Welcome to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Band family in Parkland, Florida. Performing ensembles include the Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble I and II, Percussion Ensembles, Indoor Percussion, and our nationally-ranked Color Guard. In the fall, all of these groups combine to form the Eagle Regiment Marching Band – the largest organization at Stoneman Douglas High School, which attracts some of the most academically high-achieving and talented students in the school. Students in the band program at Stoneman Douglas are members of a very special organization that derives its strength from its diverse and active membership, one that continually strives for the highest levels of excellence.
The MSD Band has received numerous awards and accolades at FBA Marching, Concert Band, and Jazz Band Music Performance Assessments over the past 26 years. Most recently, the Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band earned straight Superior ratings at the 2016 State Concert Band Performance Assessment. As a result, the band program earned two Otto J. Kraushaar Awards, Florida’s highest honor, for a perfect record of Superior ratings from all judges at all Florida marching and concert band assessments throughout an entire school year. The Eagle Regiment has won multiple FMBC Regional Championships and is consistently a State Championship Finalist. Most recently, the Eagle Regiment was a top ten finalist at the 2016 BOA Atlanta Super Regional and has been named the FMBC Class 5A State 1st Runner-up for three consecutive years (2014, 2015, and 2016).
In addition to ensemble success, members of the Stoneman Douglas Band distinguish themselves through individual efforts in All-County, All-State, Solo and Ensemble MPAs, and other Honor Band activities. Participation in the Stoneman Douglas band program is much more than performance preparation; it reinforces the importance of self-discipline as the fundamental of healthy self-esteem, group pride, personal satisfaction, and aesthetic joy.
The Eagle Regiment concluded its marching season on Saturday, November 12th at the Tropicana Dome with two very strong and impressive performances. In the FMBC State Championship Semifinals Competition, Stoneman Douglas won BEST COLOR GUARD and the Eagle Regiment earned a Semifinals score of 93.10. Then, in the evening Finals, the Eagle Regiment gave an incredibly energetic and electric performance and was named 2016 FMBC Class 5A STATE MARCHING BAND RUNNER-UP with a season-high score of 93.50, the second highest score of all bands in the state of Florida!
A WELL-DESERVED CONGRATULATIONS to the Eagle Regiment for making an impressive statement this marching season, both in Florida and on the national stage!
