Welcome to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Band family in Parkland, Florida, recognized as one of the finest and most comprehensive high school band programs in the nation.  Performing ensembles include the Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band I, II and III, Indoor Percussion, and our nationally-ranked Color Guard.  In the fall, all of these groups combine to form the Eagle Regiment Marching Band – the largest organization at Stoneman Douglas High School, which attracts some of the most academically high-achieving and talented students in the school.  Students in the band program at Stoneman Douglas are members of a very special organization that derives its strength from its diverse and active membership, one that continually strives for the highest levels of excellence.

MSD bands consistently earn the highest ratings at all levels of evaluation.  The Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band consistently earn straight Superior ratings at State Concert Band MPA, and in 2018, all three concert bands earned straight Superior ratings at the state level.  This has only happened twice in the history of FBA.  As a result, the band program earned three Otto J. Kraushaar Awards.  This is Florida’s highest honor, given to a high school band program for a perfect record of Superior ratings from all judges at all Florida marching and concert band assessments throughout an entire school year.  Jazz Band I and II also consistently earn Superior ratings at State Jazz MPA.  The Eagle Regiment has won multiple FMBC Regional Championships and is consistently a State Championship Finalist.  Most recently, the Eagle Regiment was a 2016 BOA Super Regional Finalist Band and was named the 2017 FMBC Class 5A State Champion.

In addition to ensemble success, members of the Stoneman Douglas Band distinguish themselves through individual efforts resulting in the highest representation in the Broward All-County Band, and one of the highest representations in All-State.  Students also participate extensively in Solo and Ensemble MPAs as well as FYO and other Honor Band activities including the FSU Tri-State Festival, USF Festival of Winds, and the UM Frost Honor Band Festival.

The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Wind Symphony has been selected as a 2018 Performing Ensemble!

JB1 & JB2 earn straight Superiors at Jazz MPA!

Congratulations to our top two jazz bands for earning straight A’s from all judges at the 2018 Jazz Band MPA! Listen to excerpts from both jazz bands’ performances:

All three MSD concert bands earn straight Superiors at State MPA… make FBA history!

Congratulations to the Stoneman Douglas Band Program for making school history, once again. The Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band performed at Broward College for the 2018 FBA State Concert MPA… MSD was one of only two schools in the state to have three bands qualify and perform.  Stoneman Douglas was not only the only high school in Florida to have both its top band and 2nd band receive the top rating of Superior from every judge… MSD made FBA history by having ALL THREE of its concert bands earn straight Superiors at State MPA (see complete ratings)!  As a result, Stoneman Douglas High School was awarded three Otto Kraushaar Awards, the highest award given by FBA to any high school band program for a perfect record of Superior ratings from every judge at every marching and concert band assessment throughout an entire school year!  We are particularly proud of Concert Band (3rd band)… they played a Grade 4 program and rose to the challenge!
