The parade officially gets underway at 12 noon and usually lasts for around 3 hours, although crowds will continue to linger for some time after the official parade ends.
There is generally excellent coverage of the London new year parade on TV channels both domestically and abroad, with US citizens in particular showing an interest in watching, not least because of the many iconic landmarks passed along the parade route.
