The EAGLE REGIMENT SCHOLARSHIPS were established to create future opportunities for graduating students in the band and color guard program. Eagle Regiment Scholarships are administered by MEPA and funded through the generous support of individual, family and corporate donations.

John Rusnak Memorial Scholarship

The JOHN RUSNAK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP was established in 2018 in memory of Mr. Rusnak and his love and life’s dedication to the Stoneman Douglas Eagle Regiment Program. John Rusnak was the founding band director at Stoneman Douglas High School and taught music, leadership and life lessons to students for 25 years before his untimely passing on August 6, 2014. The Marching Eagle Parent Association (MEPA) along with the Rusnak family established the John Rusnak Memorial Fund to receive donations for the band program. The goal of the fund is to honor the man who established the Eagle Regiment program at Stoneman Douglas High School. The fund provides ongoing financial assistance to support the growth and excellence of the Stoneman Douglas Eagle Regiment Program, including its music, instruments, equipment, uniforms and events.

 

A $500 scholarship is awarded annually. The scholarship is awarded to a graduating student at 

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School who exemplifies Mr. John Rusnak’s love of music, a dedication to performance excellence and intent to continue an active participation in music and/or performing arts education beyond high school. To apply, you must be an active member of the Eagle Regiment in good standing and must be graduating from Stoneman Douglas High School in the current school year. You must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher and submit an essay explaining how your shared interest in a love of music, a dedication to performance excellence and intent to continue an active participation in music and/or performing arts education beyond high school has influenced your life past, present and future.

** Application must be downloaded to a computer, edited and RESAVED with a new name.

Steve Golodnar Scholarship

A $250 scholarship is awarded annually. The scholarship is awarded to a graduating student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School who embodies STEVE GOLONDER'S SPIRIT OF GIVING, DEDICATION AND POSITIVE ENERGY.  To apply, you must be an active member of the Eagle Regiment in good standing and must be graduating from Stoneman Douglas High School in the current school year. You must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher and submit an essay explaining how your shared interest in a spirit of giving, dedication and positive energy has influenced your participation in the Eagle Regiment and how it will influence your life in the future.

** Application must be downloaded to a computer, edited and RESAVED with a new name.
